Imphal, March 12 2015:
While BJP Manipur Pradesh has blamed the State Government's intelligence failure for the bomb blast at the temporary market shed of Khwairamband Bazar yesterday, JD(U) Manipur unit has questioned the motive behind killing underprivileged workers.
Meanwhile, CPI Manipur State Council has pointed out that repeated bomb blasts within high security zones of Imphal city are clear manifestations of security lapses.
Referring to the same bomb blast which killed three people and wounded many others, MPP has asserted that the Congress Government has failed miserably in protecting lives and properties of citizens.
Speaking to media persons separately today, Th Chaoba of BJP, M Tombi of JD(U), Dr M Nara of CPI and N Sovakiran of MPP condemned the bomb blast in the strongest terms.
Questioning the State Government's oft-repeated claims about beefing up security measures in and around Imphal city, Th Chaoba said that law and order has collapsed under the incumbent Congress Government.
Whereas a hill man is the State's Home Minister, weapons (guns) are not given to police stations located in hill districts.
Police personnel posted in hill districts are equipped with only batons or clubs.
There is virtually no governance in hill areas of Manipur, Chaoba alleged.
For visiting hill areas of Manipur, top leaders of the State Government have been hiring helicopters at the expense of the State exchequer which otherwise could be utilized in development programmes, he added.
M Tombi asserted that security arrangements in and around Imphal city demand a complete review in view of the repeated bomb blasts.
CCTV cameras which were installed at the cost of several crores of rupees are no better than decorative pieces and the Government sees no urgency to make the cameras serve their intended purpose, Tombi decried.
He also conveyed solidarity to all the victims of the bomb blast and their families.
Dr M Nara said that the series of bomb blasts which killed scores of people in the State capital during the past many months are undeniable indications of serious lapses in the State's security arrangement.
Inability to pull up any person involved in the series of bomb blasts is testimony that the Government has failed miserably on all fronts particularly when it comes to maintenance of law and order.
Anti-social elements have been taking advantage of the unsystematic manner of allotting parking lots within the capital city and this must be rectified immediately, he asserted.
N Sovakiran said that the Home Departments needs a complete overhaul starting from top to bottom.
The Government's intelligence wing is as good as dead if the series of bomb blasts are any indication, he added.
