CS, others denied salary

The Chief Secretary as well as other administrative secretaries have been denied their salary for the month of November for not updating their details in MGEL.
A routine monthly meeting held today at Secretariat South Block with Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga in the chair discussed about non-payment of salaries to many IAS, MCS, IPS and MPS officers for not updating their MGEL details.
Some IAS officers pointed out that a large number of employees have not been getting monthly salaries for more than a year because their names could not be incorporated in MGEL.
The Chief Secretary suggested Finance Department to bring out a method with which the MGEL details can be upgraded at the earliest.
On their part, Tourism Department informed the gathering that more than Rs three crore was used in the Sangai Festival held from November 21 to 30.They assured that a detail report would be submitted to the Government soon.
However, Chief Minister earlier stated that the festival might cost around Rs 2.70 crore.
