Kpi police seizes drugs worth Rs 10 lakh

In a major seizure of drags by Kangpokpi Police along Imphal-Dimapur road, National Highway 2, huge quantity of Opium and No 4 Heroin powder has reported been seized in a passenger Tata Winger on September 7, at around 8.30pm.According to police, a team of Kangpokpi Police under the supervision of SP Kangpokpi intercepted a passenger Tata Winger bearing Regd No MN02G-1247 while conducting frisking and checking along the National Highway 2 at various locations.
On checking the intercepted vehicle, six packets of Opium wrapped in polythene were found hidden inside the bonnet of the vehicle by the police personnel.
Each packet weighs 1 Kg each.
On further checking, another five packets of suspected No 4 heroin powder were found inside a black bag pack concealed inside Godzilla (mosquito coil) packets.
The opium and suspected No 4 heroin powder along with the vehicle were seized by the Kangpokpi police after following due formalities.
In connection with the seizure, police also arrested two persons identified as Subi Khatri alias Dip (38) s/o Bakta Bahadur Khatri of Aisan village under Saikul Sub Division presently staying at Koirengei and Puyam Nanao (35) s/o (L) P Chaoren Singh of Moirangthem Leijubam Leikai, Moirang, Bishnupur district while a case under FIR NO.25(9)18 KPI PS u/s 18/21 ND & PS Act has been registered for investigation.
According to the source, as per the present rate of Opium (Rs 1.5 Lakhs per Kilogram), the seized Opium of six packets is worth around 9 Lakhs while the No 4 heroin powder must be valued around Rs 50,000 .
