Sanskrit in schools, colleges: Education Minister

Education Minister S Rajen Singh today said that Sanskrit subject will be introduced in the curricula of selected schools and colleges in the State.
The Minister was speaking to media persons during a visit by a team he led at the Sanatan Sanskrit Vidyalaya, Charhajare in Kangpokpi district today.
He maintained that Manipur University is also planning to open a Depart-ment for the subject (Sanskrit).
Authority concerned will be approached to speed up the process, he added.
He assured that the existing infrastructure and building of Sanatan Sanskrit Vidyalaya, Charhajare, will also be renovated within a short period of time.
Education Commissioner, Director and other officials concerned were also instructed to take up necessary action in this regard.
Rajen also informed that all the Government schools and colleges should have authenticated land certificates issued by the competent authority, Revenue Department.
The land should be in the name of the schools and colleges concerned.
If their land records are not clear, the officials concerned should work out to settle the issue and for that appropriate actions needed to be taken up, he added.
Officer on Special Duty (Delhi) S Premananda Sharma, Commissioner (Education-S), T Ranjit Singh, Director Education (S) L Nandakumar Singh, Superintending Engineer (SE), Education Engineering Wing, Sarat Singh and other officials accompanied the Minister.
Later, the team inspected the work progress at Motbung Government High School, Government Hindi Secondary School, Kanglatongbi, Maharabi Primary School, Tendongyang Government Junior High School and Khonghampat High School.
