Imphal, November 19 2020:
Certain private clinics and private hospitals, apart from charging a big amount for COVID-19 test, have put a rider on COVID-19 test.
These private clinics or hospitals which have COVID Care Centres have been saying that if any person tests positive, the individual should not go to other hospitals but stay at their COVID Care Centre and get treatment.
A girl who has been studying BSc Nursing at Bangalore was recently told by the college authority that the final year examination would be held physically, not online and students must bring non-COVID certificate when they come to give the examination.
The BSc Nursing student who hails from Thangmeiband AC was also informed that the non-COVID certificate would be valid for 72 hours after it was issued.
As told by the college authority, the girl went for COVID-19 test to a well established private hospital located in Imphal West district yesterday.
According to some close acquaintances/relatives of the student, the private hospital told the girl that CO VID-19 test should be done under a mutual understanding and she must not go to any other hospital but stay at their COVID Care Centre for treatment in case her result turns out positive.
The particular private hospital opened a COVID Care Centre only recently.
Some family members of the BSc Nursing student had tested for COVID-19 before the COVID Care Centre was opened and at that time, the hospital authority did not say anything like positive persons should stay at the hospital for treatment.
As the rider put by the hospital staff evoked strong suspicion, the student left the hospital and went to Babina Diagnostics for COVID-19 test.
With her result found negative, the student left Imphal for Bangalore with the non-COVID certificate today to give her final year examination, said the student's relatives/acquaintances.
