Ukhrul bikers rally to "Spread compassion not COVID-19"

Ukhrul, November 19 2020:
10 Sector Somsai Battalion, Ukhrul in association with Ukhrul town biker groups today held a bike rally across Ukhrul town to spread awareness on COVID-19 appropriate behaviour under the banner "Spread compassion not COVID-19" .
Earlier, before the flag off programme, Colonel Dipankar Basu Additional DIG 10 Sector Hornbill Battalion Somsai, Ukhrul led the public in pledging to actively partake in the fight against COVID-19 and to disseminate information on how to prevent spread of coronavirus across the district.
The rally also emphasized on the importance of wearing face mask, maintaining physical distancing and regular hand washing while going out in public places or in market areas.
It was informed that more than 575 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Ukhrul district alone and this necessitates the people of the district to adapt to a new social behaviour.
The Additional DIG flagged off the bike rally from Somsai Garrison ground, in the presence of CMO, Ukhrul Dr Kapangring, Commandant Colonel Rippon Bora, Additional SP Ringthing Hongchui, Medical Superintendent Ukhrul Dr Reisangmi Vashum, and AR officers.
Biker groups of Ukhrul town as "Hao Riders" and "The Soul Brothers" drove across the town carrying message about COVID-19 SOPs.
Any individual violating the SOPs shall be penalised as per the Disaster Management Act.
Speaking at the sidelines, one of the bikers said that it is an obligation of every individual to participate in the COVID-19 awareness programme for safety and to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Later CMO, Ukhrul Dr Kapangring flagged in the programme at Ukhrul District Hospital.
