Imphal, November 28 2020:
The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has questioned under what category, model and analysis the India Today Group selected Manipur for the Most Improved State For Inclusive Development Award.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan here today, MPCC spokesperson and general secretary (organisation) L Tilotama asked the India Today Group for which extraordinary performance of Manipur it selected the State for the particular award.
She went on to ask if Manipur fulfils any of the criteria for being the 'most improved State for inclusive development' .
Law and order of a State cannot be normalised overnight.
The incumbent Government may take credit for the achiavement of successive Governments but it would be wrong to say that good governance has been established in the State over the last three years and a half, Tilotama said.
Questioning if there is any aspect of the BJP-led coalition which can be appreciated, she pointed out that the India Today Group conferred an award to the incumbent Government in 2018 when it was one year and a half old, followed by another award for inclusive development in 2019.Manipur being home to different communities with diverse traditions and customs, any development work is always inclusive.
Whatever development works done by the incumbent Government are all inclusive and the same will hold true for the next and future Governments, Tilotama asserted.
Questioning on what basis the India Today Group selected Manipur for the Most Improved State For Inclusive i Development Award, she sneered whether the award has been conferred to the incumbent Government for its expertise in engineering defection of MLAs.
Citing rising cases of rape, alarming surge in smuggling of drugs, abject failure to tackle COVID-19 pandemic, blatant use of UG groups under dialogue process in the recent by-election, failure to implement housing scheme etc, the MPCC spokesperson questioned why and for what good reason the India Today Group selected Manipur for the Most Improved State For Inclusive Development Award.
She further asked if there is any understanding between the India Today Group and the incumbent BJP-led coalition Government of Manipur.
