COVID-19 claims six more lives, toll now stands at 263

The COVID-19 pandemic continued to extract heavy toll on the State's population with six more individuals succumbing to the virus during the last 24 years.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths has reached 263 after six persons aged 27 (female, Chandel), 62 (male, Imphal West), 69 (male, Imphal West), 62 (male, Imphal West), 80 (male, Imphal East) and 88 (male, Thoubal) expired at District Hospital Churachandpur and JNIMS.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 235 people including five personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Mother's Care, Shija Hospital, Public Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Swiss Clinic, Lamjingba, RD Wing, Raj Medicity, Escent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Jiribam, Noney and Babina Diagnostics.
The 230 civilians who have been tested positive belong to Imphal West (77), Imphal East (42), Thoubal (16), Bishnupur (16), Kakching (16), Tamenglong (6), Ukhrul (1), Senapati (4), Kangpokpi (1), Churachandpur (47), Chandel (1), Tengnoupal (1), Jiribam (1) and Noney.
All of them are locals who do not have any significant travel history.
On the other hand, 197 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (12), home isolation (144), JNIMS (1), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (9), Lanva (5), CCC UNACCO (9), Sadbhavna (2), Raj Medicity (2), Chandel (7), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (9), Kangpokpi (1) and Jiribam (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases as on Saturday is 24749 (general population 21668, Central security personnel 3081) .
This figure includes 3283 active cases (general population 2984, Central security personnel 299) and 21203 discharged cases (general population 18425 and Central security personnel 2778) .
The recovery rate stands at 85.67 per cent.
Meanwhile, a late report today informed that 64 people were tested positive in Imphal West district today.
Out of them, 14 are residents of Taobungkhok Makha Leikai, four of Uripok Yambem Leikai, four of Chingamakha and two are residents of the 2nd Manipur Rifles complex.
