RS MP's visit to Tangkhul areas go down well with many
'Hills, remote areas, my priority'

Rajya Sabha MP Laisemba Sanajaoba who is also the titular king of Manipur while visiting Ukhrul district said his main priority is to utilise developmental funds in the hill districts and the remote areas in the valley.
Sanajaoba said this during an interactive session with the Tangkhul Naga Long and other leaders at the office chamber of the president of TNL today.
The Rajya Sabha MP said he would go out of his way to bridge the gap and try to do away the misunderstanding between different communities in Manipur and added that he is touring the hill districts to familiarise himself with the ground reality and understand how people in the hills live.
He said that this way he would be better placed to ensure that his developmental funds reach the right place and the right people.
The Rajya Sabha MP also assured to construct a market complex at Ukhrul to strengthen the ancestral fraternal relationship that Meitei royal families had with the Tangkhul community.
Laisemba went on to say that he has come to Ukhrul to also pay respect to the late Yangmaso Shaiza who hailed from Ukhrul and had served his people in different capacities for betterment of the State.
A strong relationship between the people and the Government is what is needed, he said and added that he will also work towards this end.
TNL president Hopingson A Shimray presented a Luirim Kachon (traditional shawl) as a mark of welcoming Laisemba Sanajaoba at Ukhrul and also thanked him for visiting Tangkhul areas.
Hopingson said that the relationship between the Meitei and Tangkhul communities which has been there since the days of the forefather should be upheld for the future generation to cherish.
He also stated that it is a matter of pride that the titular King of Manipur thought it fit to visit the office of the TNL.
This will have a significant message for the people of the State, he added.
Later, Hopingson submitted a memorandum to Sanajaoba for construction of a hall and market complex at TNL compound Wino Bazar.
Hopingson also introduced all his colleagues and briefly explained how TNL functions to the visiting Rajya Sabha member.
Laisemba Sanajaoba also inspected the ongoing BJP office construction work at Luiyainao and his team was accompanied by BJP State leaders, headmen and others.
