UNC talk deferred; Govt to set up Disaster Reponse Force, Consumer Helpline

Imphal, July 27 2011:
The State cabinet today in a meeting resolved to hold the 11th Assembly session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 24 and the remaining ADC elections in Ukhrul and Senapati districts on October 24, SPF spokesperson N Biren told reporters after the meeting.
He said that the ADC elections yet to be held in Ukhrul and Senapati districts will be held on October 24 and counting will be done on October 31 .
The meeting also resolved to set up a State Disaster Response Force and a 520 staff of Excise Department will be engaged for the purpose after giving proper training by experts from Japan.
It also resolved to initiate a Disaster Risk Reduction Programme in Imphal East, CCpur and Ukhrul districts which will have five staff members in each district.
The meeting also resolved to set up a State Consumer Helpline and required staff will be recruited very soon.
The Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana which is being implemented only in Imphal East will be implemented in all districts of the state, Biren said.
He also said that L Rameshwar younger brother of deceased SI Kumar will be appointed as an officer in the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The post of Under Secretary in the Secretariat of the Governor will be upgraded to Deputy Secretary.
Deputy Labour Commisioner Gokulmani will be assigned as Executive Director of National Health Insurance Schemes.
PWD Chief Engineer O Dinendra will be assigned to the post of Chief Engineer in the Tribal Development Corporation.
The meeting has also resolved to extend the MoU signed between KCP (MC) Lallumba group for another year.
It futher resolved to extend the SoO signed between Kuki UG groups in the state for another year.
The meeting also deferred the proposed talks with the UNC.
Biren further said that boxer Suranjoy and Wushu player Sandhyarani who have been recommended for the prestigious Arjuna award will be appointed to the rank of SI in the state police.
Wall paintings depicting the traditional and cultural images of the various communities in the state will decorated in the dome of the new Assembly hall, Biren added.
Three victims of the recent landslides will be provided liberalised pension while family members of the other three will be provided suitable government jobs.
The meeting also resolved to give the land area of Government Oil Depot to the state Tourism Department.
It also resolved to set up six call centres of the State Election Department at the District Headquarters, Biren said.
