Panel discussion on Human Rights Day held

Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) and Human Rights Alert (HRA) organised a panel discussion cum interactive session on the theme 'Recover Better - Stand Up for Human Rights' with specific focus on the importance of access to justice in the times of COVID-19 pandemic.
The programme was held at the office of MASLSA, ADR centre, Lamphelpat on the occasion of Human Rights Day 2020, said a statement released by MASLSA.
Gaiphulshillu Golmei, Member Secretary MASLSA said the aim of the panel discussion and interactive session was to highlight the barriers to access to justice encountered and some recessing issues which have been heightened during this pandemic and also to present some of the novel approaches adopted by the legal services institutions and functionaries during these times, said the statement.
Sanjoy Hazarika, Director Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI); Dr Alana Golmei, general secretary of North East Support Centre and Sadananda Sorokhaibam, MJS and Deputy Member Secretary MASLSA spoke on various topics at the programme, added the statement.
The statement also said, the programme moderated by Babloo Loitongbam was streamed live on the official facebook page of MASLSA and Youtube channel - Khutsem Live for wider outreach and coverage.
BJP observes Human Rights Day BJP Law Cell, Manipur observed the 72nd Human Rights Day 2020 at its head office today.
The programme was attended by Tiken Singh, president BJP; RK Somorjit Singh, vice president BJP and Moirangthem Karamchand Singh, convenor Law' Cell BJP Manipur as presidium members.
