Actors should set examples for others: Newmai

Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai has urged the film faternity particularly local actors and actresses to lead their lives in line with the role they portray on screen and set an exmple for the youngsters to emulate.
The Minister said this while attending the second edition of Tangkhul Naga Film (TNF) Award ceremony as the chief guest.
Addressing the function, Newmai said that all those involved in films should try to emulate the positive role they play on screen as their influence on the younger generations is immense.
Local actors and artistes must demonstrate character and lead a life of value for their conduct in real life can have a cascading effect and influence the younger generations, said the Minister.
Awangbow also lauded the programme to give recognition to the local film makers, actors, singers as such events will go a long way in promoting and encouraging local talents.
He said that among the tribals of Manipur, the Tangkhul community was the first to produce a film and gradually other communities started to produce their own dialect film.
Hill Area Committee (HAC) Chairman Leishiyo Keishing who attended as the guest of honour expressed that the film industry is the only platform that gives room to all individuals to showcase their talent.
Good films should always carry a moral lesson, said the HAC Chairman.
MLA Khashim Vashum said the TNFA must strive to carry forward Tangkhul film industry in all aspects.
Before the award distribution programme, TNFA president Chingya Chawung said that it has been a dream to felicitate different personalities working in the Tangkhul film industry and expressed hope that the award distribution programme will help the industry to move forward.
Nine films were nominated for TNF Award 2020 .
Later, the visiting Minister, chairman HAC and MLA gave away the award to twelve individuals.
The best director award went to Makanmi Ramror for the film (Mashimitmi Kapai Meiwon), best producer to Juluse Keishing (Raimi film), Best film to Pheichon, best story to Chingya Chawung (Yangyirwonwui Seiha), best male actor to Khavangpam Mahung (LAY film), best female actor to Angel Shimrah (Yangyirwonwui Seiha), best playback singer (male) to Lenin Woken (Yangyirwonwui Seiha), best female playback singer to Nimshimphi Muivah (Raimi film), best villain to Zion Phungshok (LAY film), best supporting actor to Shaingam Ngakang (Pheichon film), best cinematography to Raikhang Jajo (Mashimitmi Kapai Meiwon) and best editing to Pamshim Rungsung (LAY) film.
Ukhrul ADC members, local social organization leaders, Tangkhul film fraternity members and well wishers attended the TNF Award ceremony programme organized by Tangkhul Naga Film Association (TNFA), Ukhrul at TNL Hall Wino Bazar, Ukhrul.
