Two held for uploading obscene images on WhatsApp, Facebook

A 23 year old youth was arrested by Cyber Crime Unit, Imphal West, today for uploading obscene pictures and videos on social networking sites, Facebook and WhatsApp.
According to police sources, a complaint was filed at Lamshang Police Station by a person from Phayeng Mayai Leikai, that one Nonthongbam Aboy alias Roshan (23), s/o N Tomba of Khongba Laishram Leikai Imphal East, had uploaded obscene pictures and videos of a girl on social networking sites.
The complainant also alleged that the accused sent the pictures and videos to the elder brother of the victim via WhatsApp.
The case was forwarded from Lamshang Police Station to Cyber Crime on January 5, the source said.
The Cyber Crime Unit Imphal West carried out an investigation and arrested Nongtongbam Aboy from his residence at Kongba Laishram Leikai at around 2.15 pm.
The cyber crime unit also seized one mobile handset from the accused at around 2:30 pm today.
The accused was handed over to Lamshang Police station after registration of a case.
In the meantime, Cyber Crime Unit Imphal West arrested a 24-year-old for sending lewd messages to a 26-year-old woman through social networking site WhatsApp yesterday.
The arrested person has been identified as Mayang-lambam Krishnachandra, s/o M Gojen of Kakching Khunou Thingnam Tarung Leikai, presently staying at the residence of one Waikhom Kenedy of Khongman Okram Chuthek, Imphal East district.
Reports said that the woman hailing from Langthabal lodged a formal complaint to the Officer-in-Charge of Singjamei police station on December 17 wherein she claimed that an unknown person sent her a text message on December 15 at around 7.30 pm.
She could not recognize the sender as the latter did not put his profile picture on his WhatsApp account.
The man who identified himself as Umakanta from Tera again sent another vulgar text message to the woman the next day morning, threatening her modesty.
He went on to the extent of making morphed nude picture of the woman as his profile picture of his WhatsApp account, the reports said.
Singjamei police forwarded the case to the Cyber Crime Imphal West unit for conducting inquiry into the incident.
The accused was arrested by a team of Cyber Crime unit of Imphal West from the residence of Kenedy.
A Samsung mobile handset used by the accused was found by the team, it added.
