Imphal, January 08 2017:
Patsoi Kendra Social Upliftment Organisation distributed Weavers' Card to women weavers in the AC during an awareness programme held at Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai Development Association ground today.
Patsoi Kendra Social Upliftment Organisation's chief patron Ch Bijoy said varied schemes and welfare projects for women weavers had been introduced by the Government of India since 2006.Unfortunately, most of the schemes/projects have not been implemented in the State, he said.

Elaborating the use and benefits of Weavers Cards, Bijoy questioned why the State Government had taken no steps to create awareness about the Weaver Card to people earlier. The Weavers Card, once issued, will be valid for a lifetime, Bijoy informed.
With the card, weavers can avail easy loan (between Rs 25,000 to 2 lakh) from the Government.
He questioned why the State Government has taken no step to ensure free and compulsory education for children of BPL and labour card holders.
Today's programme aimed to create awareness among the people of the varied schemes taken up by the Government of India for the welfare of weavers, Bijoy stated.
