One-day symposium on Anglo-Kuki War held

Imphal, January 08 2017:
A one-day symposium on Anglo-Kuki War (1917-19) was held yesterday at Kuki Inn, Imphal, a statement informed.
The symposium was jointly organised by Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) general headquarters and Kuki Research Forum (KuRF).
Altogether, 120 research scholars from every areas of discipline participated in the workshop.
The Anglo-Kuki War was a war fought over a vast area across international borders.
It was a war against colonialism, a fight for freedom and protection of the rights of the people.
The main objective of the symposium was to bring out a detailed account of the Anglo-Kuki war from the Kuki's viewpoint, the statement said.
"It was our objective to give Anglo-Kuki war its rightful place in the history of people's struggle against colonialism and imperialism", the KSO said in the statement.
Dr Thathang Vaiphei and Dr Robert Thongkholal were the moderators of the symposium while Dr Sonthang Haokip, Dr Sheipu Kipgen, Dr Jangmang Guite and Dr J Lamboi attended as resource persons.
