Jiri/Tml /Noney/Cdl/Kak/Tpl/Spt/Phungyar, July 01 2019: In connection with the observance of 70th Van Mahotsav 2019, DFO, Jiribam organized a tree plantation drive in Jiribam during which about 15,000 tree saplings were planted in different parts of Jiribam at Harinagar Lamlen, Guakhal and Leisabithol today.

The mass tree plantation drive began at Harinagar Lamlen and was attended by Kh Brojendro Singh (IFS), Chief Conservator of Forest T-ll, Nodal Officer; Ch Ibomcha Singh, DFO, Jiribam; N Jayantakumar Singh, OC in-charge, Jiribam District Police; Chamna Anal, AC, 7 IRB, Jiribam, RO, pradhans and 200 villagers.

Speaking to the media persons, Kh Brojendro Singh (IFS), Chief Conservator of Forest T-ll, Nodal Officer said that the tree plantation drive was conducted in connection with the observance of 70th Van Mahotsav 2019 .

Altogether, about 15,000 saplings have been planted in the drive which include 2,000 saplings at Harinagar Lamlen, 8,000 at Guakhal and 7,000 at Leisabithol.

TAMENGLONG: The 70th Van Mahotsav (festival of forest) was held at Tamenglong Baptist Church which was organized by Tamenglong Forest Division in association with Rainforest Club Tamenglong and Baptist Youth Fellowship.

W Yaiskul Singh, CCF; Ravinder Singh, DC, Tamenglong; Arun RS DFO Tamenglong; Dr Chambo Gonmei, CMO Tamenglong; Hony Wildlife Warden, Nehemiah Panmei, Hony Wildlife Warden, Kh Hitler and S Khogen Singh RFO were present as presidium members in the programme.

Chief guest, W Yaiskul and president, Ravinder Singh kicked started the tree plantation drive in and around Tamenglong Baptist Church.

As part of the function, a public meeting and awareness programme was held at Chaplin hall of the Church in the presence of Pastor Rev Acham, Church members, members of Rainforest Club, Tamenglong, students, BYF members.

NONEY: The 70th Van Mahotsav celebration cum mass tree plantation drive organized by Longmai (Noney) Forest Division in collaboration with Longmai Nature Club and Longmai Youth League was held today at Longmai Bazar Community Hall.

Gaithaoliu Thaimei, IFS, Director Manipur Zoological garden graced the function as chief guest and Namlalung Gangmei, MCS, SDO, Noney/Haochong; Napoleon Rongmei, MFS, DFO, Noney; Guichung Gonmei, Chairman Longmai Village Customary Court and D Ezekiel, president, Longmai Nature Club were the dignitaries and functionaries of the programme.

Speaking at the occasion, Gaithaoliu Thaimei said that most of the forest trees in the hills area were destroyed by Jhum cultivation & wild fire which are the main factor for the cause of environment degradation and global warming adding that we need to organize more awareness programme in every village of the hills area to stop deforestation and we should plant more trees every yearto fight the impact of global warming.

Napoleon Rongmei, DFO, Noney mentioned that the department is targeting to plant 15,000 different kinds of evergreen tree saplings along the roadside, school, community hall, playground & Churches compound etc, in different villages of Noney within thw week-long celebration of Van Mahotsav.

He also appreciated all the subordinate organisation and participants for their co-operation in observing the programme.

On the first day of the festival, 500 tree saplings were planted from Longmai Bazar to Longmai Part-2.Later, the dignitaries also proceeded to the IRANG and held the similar programme in the presence of village leaders, members of Churches, Youth Club, Longmai Legal Aid Clinic PLVs and student leaders.

CHANDEL: The observance function of 70th Van Mahotsav festival was also held at Chandel district by District Forest Division, Chandel.

About 15,000 tree saplings were planted in Liwa Sarei village, Phungchung village and K Phailen village as part of the function.

The function began with the plantation of 5,000 saplings at a private land owned by Shingchung in Liwa Sarei village which was attended by Conservator of Forest Northern side, Loitongbam Lukhoi; executive member, ADC Chandel, Kanlun Anal; ADC member Sh Manglem; ADC member Willingson Anal; DFO Chandel Ningthianhoi; Range Officer Chandel division Ch Deven; Range Officer Chandel/Chakpikarong S Shoshee and chief of Liwa Sarei village, Ngamting.

Regarding the programme, Conservator of Forest Northern side, Loitongbam Lukhoi stressed on the conservation of forest without which human being cannot survive on earth and sought full co-operation from the public to make the endeavor of forest department in preserving the forests successful.

KAKCHING: As observed across the Nation, the 70th Van Mahotsav (Festival of Forests) 2019 was observed at Tengnoupal and Kakching districts during which mass tree saplings were planted in different parts of the districts.

In the observance function of the 70th Van Mahotsav festival organized by Tengnoupal Range under Tengnoupal Forest Division, about 30,000 tree saplings were planted at Aimol Khullen village and Tengnoupal village.

The Van Mahotsav festival held at Aimol Khullen was attended by Additional Principal, Forest Department Manipur and Chief Conservator of Forests, Anurag Bajpai (IFS); Commandant 18 Assam Rifles, Col Ajit Khatri; Divisional Forest Officer Tengnoupal Forest Division Elangbam Home Singh; Divisional Forest Officer Wild Life Division Waikhom Romabai Devi; RFO Tengnoupal Hanjabam Imo Sharma; SDO/SDM Tengnoupal Laishram Bobi; Aimol Khullen village chief Ramkhuplir Aimol and villagers.

The dignitaries along with the villagers have planted about 15,000 tree saplings in a big ground located near Sengmai/Sekmai river with the aim to develop the place as a tourist spot.

The programme was also observed by Tengnoupal Range under Tengnoupal Forest Division at St Peter's School, Tengnoupal today.

The dignitaries present in the programme planted 15,000 tree saplings at Tengnoupal hill along the Tengnoupal-Sita road.

Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Anurag Bajpai (IFS); Deputy Commissioner Tengnoupal, H Rupachandra Singh (IAS); Commandant 12 Assam Rifles, Col Nectar Sanjenbam; Divisional Forest Officer Tengnoupal Forest Division Elangbam Home Singh; Divisional Forest Officer Wild Life Division Waikhom Romabai Devi; RFO Tengnoupal, Hanjabam Imo Sharma; Principal, St Peter's School Tengnoupal, Reverend Father James Baite; Deputy SP Tengnoupal, N Suraj Singh and score of villagers took part in the mass plantation programme.

Meanwhile, in connection with Van Mahotsav, under the leadership of social worker Maibam Surchandra Meitei of Sekmaijin Khunou, Youth Development Club (YDC) in association with Arong Development Association and Arong Kangjeibung Committee kicked off "Green Hiyanglam Kendra Campaign" at Arong Kangjeibung in Kakching District today.

About 200 saplings were planted as part of the campaign.

TENGNOUPAL: Moreh Forest Range has observed the 70th Vanamahotsava at Eastern Shine School, border town Moreh under the aegis of Tengnoupal Forest Division today.

The observance function was attended by M Rajkumar, ADC Moreh; N Shantos, Range Forest Officer Moreh; Th Thomas, DSP CDO; Ginsei Lhungdim, president HTC; Maniam, Gen Secy, Tamil Sangam; M Thoiba, president MCM; RK Sanayaima, president ACODOM; K Shyamo, Headmaster Eastern Shine School; Md Jallaludin, president MMCM as dignitaries.

As part of the function, Almond tree saplings have been planted in and around the school.

Staff of Range Forest Moreh and students of the school were also present in the tree plantation drive.

Regaring the function, N Shantos, Range Forest Officer Moreh said that the Van Mahotsav was observed to fight the global warming and to reduce its impact to some extent.

Meanwhile, Wilflife Division in association with Assam Rifles also planted tree saplings at New Mongjang village in Yangoupokpi Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary.

In the plantation programme, indigenous fruit plants such as Chorphon, Heijugak, Yongchank, Heikru, Pareng, Theibong, Mange, Thangji, Uyung, Uchan, Cherry, Jacaranda, Spathodia etc, were planted.

Moreover, under the aegis of DFO, Thoubal Forest Division, Universal Friendship Organisation (UFO) Manipur in association with KDCTA and Range Forest Office, Kakching Lamkhai observed 70th Van Mahotsav festival 2019 at Buffalo Breeding Farm complex in Wabagai Thambal Chingya.

The programme was attended by CCF Development N Sonzalian; DFO Thoubal Forest Division, Devala Laiphrakpam; secy gen UFO, Y Meiraba Angom; Range Forest Officer Thoubal, S Samungou; Range Forest Officer Kakching, N Iboyai.

About 1,000 tree saplings were planted during the drive.

SENAPATI: Dr Lokho Puni, Addl PCCF, GoM has stated that planting trees is not only the duty of the forest department but also the duty of all in order to preserve forest in the region.

This statement was given at the observation of Van Mahotsav 2019, organised by the ADC, Senapati in collaboration with the Forest Department, GoM.

D John Sha, DFO, Senapati Forest Division explained the meaning of 'Van Mahotsav' as an annual tree planting festival in the first week of July as a crusade to save the mother earth and to create awareness in the mind of the people for the conservation of forests and mass planting of trees.

He said that planting trees is a service to humanity.

A Kapani, Chairman, ADC, Senapati assured to give proper protection of the forest by erecting proper boundary and sought the cooperation of all.

Around 2000 saplings were planted during the programme.

PHUNGYAR: Divisional Forest Officer, Kamjong Forest Division also celebrated 70th Van Mahotsav Sava 2019 at Ramrei Village today.

About 1500 tree saplings were planted by Forest officials and villagers at Ramrei Eco- Park in the presence of 43-Phungyar AC MLA, K Leishiyo; Chief Conservator of Forest and DFO, Kamjong Forest Division.
