Further remand for father-son duo

Tongbram Inao Meitei (53) s/o (L) Nobin and his son Tongbram Tomba of Naorem Makha Leikai, were remanded to judicial custody till July 15 by the Court of Judicial Magistrate Imphal West II in connection with the murder of Tongbram Maipak (60), brother of Tongbram Inao on June 22.The father and son duo were produced before the Court today and during the hearing, the IO submitted that the two individuals admitted to the crime as revenge for allegedly sexually assaulting Inao's daughter and for disturbing their family by engaging in black art/magic.
The IO continued that in the afternoon of June 22, an unknown dead body of a male, suspected to have been killed with some sharp weapons, was found lying at Ishok Maning Leikai and a case was registered for investigation.
During the investigation, the deceased was identified as Tongbram Maipak of Naorem Makha Leikai and in the meantime, an information was received that the younger brother of the deceased and his son, were hiding in a house at Naorem Mayai Leikai after which the police team rushed to the spot and arrested both individuals who were found hiding under a bed.
During preliminary interrogation, the two individuals revealed that they are father and son and they also disclosed that they killed Tongbram Maipak with two machetes and the said weapons were seized on their disclosure.
The IO further submitted that during police custody, thorough interrogation was conducted and the two accused further admitted to committing the murder as revenge and that the deceased person is their relative.
It was revealed that the deceased was the elder brother of Tongbram Inao and they had serious enmity from the past many years.
The accused also stated that the deceased had sexually assaulted his daughter and the said incident came to light in February 2017 .
Inao further stated that the deceased was famous in performing black art and often disturbed their family by allegedly using black magic.
The IO submitted that Inao further stated that he had chopped the head, abdomen and other parts of the deceased several times using his machete while Tongbram Tomba disclosed that he had also stabbed the deceased on his back side with his machete.
The Court satisfied with the prayer, remanded the father and son to judicial custody remand till 15 July.
