KLNP in tentative list

Imphal, April 20 2016:
The Keibul Lamjao National Park (KLNP) has been placed in third position in a tentative list of world heritage sites.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests PN Prasad told The Sangai Express that the unique floating national park has been included in the tentative list and the Central Government would send a team to inspect the park within this year.

The State Forest Department would submit a final proposal regarding declaration of KLNP as a world heritage site.
Regarding the Sangai head count done recently, PN Prasad said that the total population of Sangai is being calculated and that the same exercise is likely to be completed within the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, a stray deer rescued by local club volunteers from Kumbi on April 19 was handed to KLNP authority through Kumbi Mu- nicipal Council Ward No 6 Councillor and Kumbi Police.
