Conrad Sangma inaugurates NPP office

National People Party (NPP) National president Conrad Sangma today inaugurated the office of party's State unit at 2nd floor, MDU building, MG Avenue, here today.
Later, he announced appointment of Thangminlun Kipgen as the president of NPP Manipur unit.
Conrad Sangma hoisted NPP flag in the presence of Arwin Netam, National working president and former Union Minister, Thomas A Sangma, National general secretary and former MP (Rajya Sabha), James K Sangma, MLA, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Ch Ajang Khongsai, National general secretary, Thangminlen Kipgen, NPP Manipur unit president and various other party members.
During a press meet, Conrad Sangma formally handed over the appointment letter to Thangminlen Kipgen and declared him as the president of NPP Manipur unit.
Informing reporters that Kipgen is a senior and well-experienced politician in the State, he expressed hope and confidence that the party would grow under his leadership.
Maintaining that the party members had unanimously elected him as the party's National president after the sudden demise of its founder Purno Agitok Sangma, fondly known as PA Sangma, Conrad said that he would to carry forward the endeavour initiated by Purno.
When queried why the party was defunct in Manipur for some time, he said, "Defunct is not the right word to use, there were some incidents of members leaving the party, but the ideas and ideologies still remain in the State" .
Conrad also assured that his party would be executing all the relevant activities in the upcoming Imphal Municipal Corporation elections.
