Public meeting held at Nungei

People of Nungei have demanded the Government to open a police outpost at the village.
JAC Against the Cruel Firing to Nungei Meira Paibi today
conducted a public meeting at Nungei community hall.
JAC convenor Sanjoy said that three unknown persons
fired indiscriminately at womenfolk sitting at a Meira Paibi
shed at around 8 pm on April 11.14 persons were injured in
the incident, he said.
CSO representatives of Meitei and Meitei
Pangal communities deliberated at length on how to trace the
culprits.
They also discussed on how to end the tension and
settle the issue.
Having a population of about 400 people,
Nungei village has 72 houses.
JAC convenor Sanjoy said that they are ready to provide
land for setting up of a police outpost at the village.
Saying that four families would be affected if land is ac-
quired for the said purpose, Sanjoy said that they have been
asking the Government to pay adequate compensation for it.
