Trees planted on Dr Thingnam Kishan's birth anniversary

In view of the current Covid-19 lockdown, the annual memorial lecture to be organised by Dr Thingnam Kishan Foundation (DTKF) has been cancelled this year.
The foundation organised a series of lectures annually to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Thingnam Kishan on June 28, said a statement of the foundation.
For this year, to mark his birthday, DTKF along with the family members and well wishers of the foundation carried out a tree plantation drive at the proposed permaculture site 'Urum Warum' at Langjing Imphal West, today.
The plantation was headed by 'forest man', Moirangthem Loiya, who has been honoured with awards for his contribution towards conserving Punshilok forest at Langol, Imphal.
The plantation kicked off at 6 am at Mapari Ningshingkol Lup (MANIL), Uripok Machin, memorial site of the 'three sons of the soil' namely Dr Thingnam Kishan, A Rajen and Y Token, said the foundation expressing gratitude to the Forest Department for providing the tree saplings.
As part of the event, an informal discussion on environment was also held after the tree plantation programme.
Homen Thagjam, member of DTKF, who is also a faculty at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Regional Centre Imphal, Yumlembam Kapur, secretary of MANIL, Soram Tiken, president MANIL and other well-wishers attended the event.
