Election Commission unable to address complaints: Sharatchandra

NCP candidate of Moirang A/C P Sharatchandra today alleged that the Election Commission is unable to address complaints against INC candidate M Prithiviraj who harrassed NCP workers and his alleged attempt to destroy a public meeting at Kwakta.
Sharatchandra said that the inability of the Election Commission to address the complaints might become a hurdle in the peaceful conduct of the poll process.
Speaking to reporters in a press meet held at his house at Moirang, Sharatchandra said that a public meeting for NCP was held at the Kwakta Bazar Public Ground with Rajya Sabha MP Tarig Anwar in connection with the ensuing election on January 25.During the meeting a Congress worker was filming the entire meeting secretly as well as Congress candidate M Prithiviraj fired two shots near the meeting venue to scare the people and destroy the peaceful meeting.
Moreover, Prithiviraj also tried to mislead the public by spreading a rumour of the Congress worker Ibotombi who was filming the meeting was killed by NCP workers.
In fact he was arrested by security forces.
Terming the attempt of INC candidate Prithiviraj to mislead the innocent public a sub standard act of Congress, Sharatchandra said that there was an incident when OC of Moirang Police Station and Executive Magistrate of Bishnupur district arrested Congress workers for distributing blankets and shawls to woo voters along with video clippings.
As a complete violation of the Election Code of Conduct of the Election Commission, Prithiviraj was continuing election campaign in Kwakta area on January 26 from 6 am in the morning to 2.30 am of January 27, he alleged while adding that he will report the matter to the Election Commission along with a complaint.
He also appealed to the CEO Manipur to give extra attention to Moirang A/C to make the election free and fair one.
Former Minister Md Alhaj Heshamudding who also attended the press meet said that the allegations of NCP workers killing and hiding the Congress worker who was filming the public meeting at Kwakta Public Ground was baseless.
In fact he was arrested by security personnel on the day itself from the meeting venue.
It was an act to mislead the public by the Congress candidate M Prithiviraj by spreading the rumour after hiding the worker, he alleged.
