Chandel, December 22 2015:
Chandel Deputy Commissioner Robert Singh Kshetrimayum has said that the allegation levelled by some civil society bodies of the district against him was baseless and untrue.
Speaking to media persons at his office chamber today, Robert said that it was very unfortunate that some Kuki civil society organizations had accused him of being communal.
He said that the organisations had alleged him of giving special opportunity to a particular organization to deliver speech in the recently held Advent Christmas celebration.
The allegation was baseless and untrue as none of the invited guests including the members of Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO ) were given the opportunity of delivering speech except ADC Member Mathew Maring.
The DC clarified that Mathew Maring was given the opportunity to give speech not because of his political affiliation but as an elected ADC member of the district.
Robert further said that nobody including the secretary of Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA), Chandel requested him to give a chance to deliver speech during the celebration.
While appealing all not to level misleading allegation to tarnish his image, the DC also said that such allegations would not solve any misunderstanding but it would only create an atmosphere of hatred and distrust among people of different communities residing in the district.
Meanwhile, Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) clarified that none of the member of the organization delivered speech on the day.
In a press statement, the organisation said that there was no instance of giving special chance of delivering speech to a particular organization or political party during the Advent Christmas celebration organised by the district administration.
