JNIMS teachers threatens stir

Teachers' Association, JNIMS, Imphal has threatened to launch ceasework strike from 9am of April 21 unless its various demands, including replacement of incumbent Director (in-charge) of JNIMS, are fulfilled by April 20 .
This was decided during an emergency general body meeting of the teachers' body held on April 16 at Lecture Hall No 1, JNIMS.
According to a statement, the meeting was chaired by Prof Deben Laishram, president, Teachers' Association, JNIMS.
Amongst others, the demands of the teachers included reconsidering of a Cabinet decision taken on April 2, 2015 regarding procedure for admission to PG seats in JNIMS, implementation of time scale promotion for all sections of doctor working in the institute, inclusion of two members of the association in the JNIMS Governing Council, salary disbursement by 5th of every month.
According to the statement, there will be no OPD, casualty services, routine operation and teaching programme during the strike.
However, in-patient service will continue as before.
