Under the National Project of organic farming, Regional Centre of Organic Farming (RCOF), Imphal which is a subordinate office of Ministry of Agriculture, Govt of India has organised two number of 2 days training on organic farming at the Assembly Hall of Central Agricultural University, Iroisemba here during August 9 - 10 and Aug 11 - 12 .
According to a press release of RCOF, these trainings were inaugurated by the Dean CAU Prof N Iboton Singh.
In his speech he highlighted the ill effects of the green revolution and needs of another green revolution through organic farming.
The release said, these trainings were imparted by JB Karmakar of RCOF, Imphal.
Resource persons of the trainings were Dr Edwin, Associate Prof; Dr Nabachandra, HOD (Agro); Dr Sumarjit, Associate Prof; Dr Kh Ibohal, Asstt Prof of College of Agriculture, Imphal; and Sh Himmat of Green Foundation, Imphal.
Himmat informed the participants that 22 nos of crops have been certified organic in Manipur.
During the valedictory function of the training yesterday Prof N Iboton Singh, Dean CAU and Dr Kunjaraj Singh, HOD (Extn) distributed certificates to the participants, it added.
