Imphal, April 02 2012:
Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) expressed dissatisfaction over the alleged poor quality of materials utilised for construction of Karong Sports Complex.
According to a statement issued by the President of SDSA, LR John, a six-member delegations team of SDSA inspected inspected the Karong Sports Complex on Saturday.
The team, after inspecting the entire construction work site, expressed unhappiness over the poor quality of materials utilised for constructions.
Making the matter more resenting was the mere display of machine crushed chips, Dimapur sands and some materials at the worksite which were never used for the construction purposes, but to deceive the public, the statemen said.
As per the inspection, the SDSA found that, the basketball court was poorly constructed and far beyond completion.
The river embankment constructed for the second time still lacks quality and proper construction materials.
The gallery section of the sports complex is one of the worst areas where the materials were just local sands and polished river stones rather than maintaining guidelines, it alleged.
The SDSA questioned the contractor's sincerity and the concerned Engineers and officials in approving such works.
Further, the SDSA team questioned the credibility of the concerned Engineers and Section officers and Department who has released the funds and approved the poor work.
The SDSA has consequently decided to lodge formal complaints to the concerned authorities in the coming weeks.
It has also decided to apply for RTI in case nothing substantial comes out from the higher authorities.
The SDSA strongly warned of stern action incase the concerned department, contractor, engineers and all involved fails to dismantle the present structure immediately and improve the works, the SDSA statement added.
