AR Recovers Banned Drugs

Imphal, April 02 2012:
Discovering the trans-portation of banned drugs in Sita - Tegnoupal Road near Electric power house of Chandel district, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) launched an operation yesterday in the area and recovered Respifed tablets -1,25,200 Nos (80 kgs) and handed over to Tegnoupal Police station, stated PRO, IG AR (S) in a press release.
On the other hand, medical team of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) saved life of a snake victim, Kh Mangee Singh (48) of Haokha Kiyam (Babu bazaar) yesterday.
The victim was brought to the Unit Hospital in a critical condition and was immediately attended by the Medical Officer who administered life saving anti snake venom.
The patient was discharged after his condition was stabilized.

Meanwhile, Assam Rifles Units under HQ IGAR (South) participated in the National Intensified Pulse polio immunization programme in collaboration with the Health Department yesterday at their respective locations.
A large number of children under the age of 5 years residing adjoining areas of AR Camps were administered oral polio drops and immunized against polio.
17 Assam Rifles, 23 Assam Rifles and 9 Assam Rifles carried out intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Program (IPPI) on 01 Apr 2012 to the children under 05 years at Somsai,Shanghshak and Moreh respectively it added.
