Alleging as labour broker is unfortunate, says project accountant

Clarifying on the charge of labour broker by ILP women agitators and subsequent physical assault on July 29, the Accountant of the Credible Engineering Construction Project Pvt.
Ltd Elangbam Hemakanta Khaba stated that alleging him as non local labour broker and subsequent physical assault inside the nearby club of Koirengei area is unfortunate.
While briefing the media persons at Manipur Press Club, Hemakanta clarified that he is an Accountant of the Credible Engineering Construction Project Pvt.
Ltd stationing at the Sport Complex of the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University - Regional Centre Manipur, Makhan in Senapati district.
He added that there was an incident of detaining nonlocal labours who were traveling in a Shaktiman truck on July 29 last at Koirengei.
On receiving the news at the worksite, he drove in his Bolero vehicle towards Koirengei to track the labours.
While asking the police, they answered that they have no idea.
But, the labours along with the Shaktiman truck could be tracked at a distance not far away from the police post, he narrated.
On reaching the spot, the agitators tried to carry him somewhere in an auto rickshaw with the labours.
But he missed the auto as there was no space for him in it and was detained inside a club.
In the club, he was beaten on the charge that he is a broker of non local labours, he revealed.
Clarifying the charge, he said that the charge is wrong and unfortunate adding that he is Accountant of the Credible Engineering Construction Project Pvt.
Ltd now stationing at the Sports Complex of the IGNTU-RCM.
The overall management of the labours is handled by Seita Narayan Reddy and Y V Rao and the accountant has nothing to do with the labour management, Hemakanta told further continuing that the duo are not staying, as of now, in Manipur.
He also mentioned that IGNTU authority was earlier intimated that the non local labours should process necessary identifying documents.
Following the incident, he and his family members are socially undervalued, Hemakanta expressed with displeasure, appealing to all concerns not to repeat such unfortunate incident in the future.
Meanwhile, the Joint secretary of the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Students' Union (IGNTUSU), Mahaishang Shimray in a press statement conveyed that the union is constrained in receiving the news regarding the physical assault of Elangbam Hemakanta Khaba by the Meira Paibi at Koirengei on July 29 last in relation to the current agitation of ILPS in Manipur.
The statement informed that Hemakanta is an accountant, Credible Engineering Construction Project Pvt.
Ltd and engaged by Indira Gandhi National Tribal University to construct the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University - Regional Campus Manipur at Makhan in Senapati district.
According to report reaching the students' union, Elangbam Hemakanta was assaulted by the Meira Paibis on the accusation that he is responsible for bringing in non local labourers in Manipur and added that hiring labourers is beyond the victim's role and responsibility.
Given this, the students' union is pained and disbelieve on how a premier civil body of the state responsible for the correction of many existing societal evils in the State could commit such act without proper verification and grounds, it said.
The statement made further appeal that individuals should not be targeted nor assaulted at random because of their jobs, roles or responsibilities as this could result in wrongful accusations and undesired consequences.
