Three injured when police opened tear gas shells at Lilong

Imphal, January 18 2013:
Three persons were injured when police opened tear gas shells and mock bombs to suppress a mob that closed down Lilong Bazar and blocked stretch of NH-2 at Lilong in Thoubal district this evening.
A source informed that a JAC formed in connection with the elopement of a woman at Lilong and their supporters shut down Lilong Bazar this afternoon around 2 .
The mob also imposed a lightning blockade on NH-2 at Lilong.
Three persons sustained injuries when Thoubal district police commandos fired tear gas shells and mock bombs to pacify the agitating mob.
The commandos managed to control the situation at about 5 this evening.
A 35-year old man from Lilong Chingjao had allegedly eloped with a 19-year old girl of Lilong Leihaokhong on Jan 11 last after the man reportedly seized the girl from their gate.
Since then, the two remain traceless.
A JAC was formed in connection with the reported 'disappearance' of the girl.
