Accused hubby rejected wife's claim as unfounded

The proprietor of Capital Watch and Co, Paona bazaar, Imphal has clarified to the media on Friday that the allegation made by his wife against him was unfounded and unsubstantiated.
Ramesh Kumar (a non-Manipuri man), proprietor of Capital Watch and Co strongly reacted to the allegation by his wife Telem Robita that he tortured and kicked her out from home which resulted in divorce of the couple.
Robita was in the news on Friday claiming her separated husband victmised her and kept her away from their three children.
Reacting to Robita's allegation, Kumar told the media today let the offender be punished openly and that he was not afraid of any punishment he deserves if he has ever done wrong.
He said his family has been living in Imphal since 1937 and he was born here.
Kumar said he had never ill-treated or physically abused his wife.
"Sobita is trying to take advantage of him because he is a non-Manipuri", he charged.
"Robita had willingly left home which she made it known to me in a letter on February 24, 2012 and that she wanted to get divorce, 2012," he claimed and added she has been living at her parental home since then.
"I have no any illicit affair with her sister-in-law," he clarified.
"My three children are now in Dimapur, Nagaland where they are studying and that Sobita personally had gone once there and met with them," Kumar further said.
He said he has never barred his wife to visit their children.
Telem Robita, 31, daughter of T Dhananjoy, a resident of Kongba Khetri Leikai in Imphal East district, married to Romesh Kumar, 47, a native of Bihar in 1999 .
Yesterday, Robita had told the media that she was subjected to tortures even as her husband would keep her locked inside the room and get rough with her.
She also alleged that Kumar would never allow her to take part at any family ceremonies, she alleged.
Sobita had said she was treated at Raj Polyclinic, a private hospital here in January 2012 where she was diagnosed with TB in the brain.
Kumar's elder brother and sister-in-law were asked to help her family as she had to stay at the hospital for long days for medical treatment, Robita had said.
She alleged that her husband was having illicit affair with his sister-in-law while she was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The dejected woman further said she came to know about the affair after her children discovered it.
She along with her three children returned to her parental home in February 2012 after she was pushed away by Kumar, but after three days Kumar came and took away the children, Sobita said.
