Dismissing allegations by his ex-wife telem Robita as baseless and concocted, Ramesh Kumar Gupta today clarified that he never mistreated her when they were together.

Stating that his family elders had been staying in Manipur since 1937 he himself was born and brought up here in the State, Ramesh kumar said he would not object in case the matter is investigated and punished if found guilty.
Terming Robita's false accusations as an intentional attempt to defame taking undue advantage of him being a non-local, he also clarified that Robita left him on her own volition after tucking in a letter on February 24 at his Paona bazar shop.
Since then Robita had been trying to frame him with unfounded charges, Ramesh said and clarified that he never opposed Robita from meeting their children, who are
studying at Dimapur.
He also insisted that Robita and her family members had asked for Rs 25 lakhs to purchase a plot of land near her maternal home which was declined as he would not be able to cough up such a huge amount.
apart from asking another sum of Rs 20 lakh after she left him, Ramesh said Robita accompanied by some unknown persons smashed household items and even issued threats by taking name of a UG group consequent to which the watch shop remained shut for nearly four months.
Ramesh also claimed that he personally went to Robita's house on three occasions to restore their relationships but his wife not only rejected his proposal but also insisted they sever (divorce) all ties.
Further dismissing Robita's allegation that he is a womaniser, Ramesh also belittled accusation that he maintained illicit relationship with her sister in-law namely Anjali Gangmei and conveyed to willingness to make his position clear to everybody.
Anjali Gangmei, who was also present at the media briefing, said she was subjected to severe cruelty and ostracised by the Telem family with false accusation of having illicit relationship with Ramesh Gupta.
Apart from her husband Romiyo thrashing her several occasion with the false allegations, Anjali informed she is currently staying at her parent's house after the Telem family ousted her.
On the otherhand, Robita's family members/relatives accompanied by volunteers of FREINDS stormed Manipur Press Club and insisted that the issue be discussed and settled for all times.
However, All Manipur working Journalists' Union president A Mobi, who was present at that moment, prevailed upon the latter group that it is beyond conventional norm that disputing parties settle their differences at the said venue.
Intervention by a group when another one is having a press conference is not only disallowed but would amount to depriving right of the first party, the Union president conveyed and suggested that the latter group conduct press conference on another convenient day.
