Imphal, January 16:
In one of the rarest of cases, a teacher was found posted in Bilei village where there is no Government school ! The village is located about 2 kms away from Dolaithabi Barrage site under Saikul sub-division of Senapati district.
In addition to little development seen in the village, even though it was established more than 50 years back, there is no Government school in the village.
The villagers were however taken by surprise when a primary teacher was sent to the village, conveyed Bilei village chief Tonglal Touthang.
Now the Government teacher is teaching in a private school after the DI concerned was persuaded by the villagers.
Though located near the Dolaithabi bridge, there is no road fit for vehicular traffic connecting to the village, lamented Tonglal.
One of the plights of the village is the problem of safe drinking water.
As regards health care facilities, the health centres at Saikul and Sagolmang remain the nearest ones for Bilei villagers, he rued.
