In the light of a possible resolution to the leadership crisis within the State Congress Legislature Party, which has been lingering for almost two months very soon, as the party high command has discussed the issue seriously for over three days and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has returned from his Beijing tour today morning, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh as well as the dissident MLAs have rushed to Delhi today.
According to the dissident MLAs who have arrived and resumed their camp at the National capital, the high command of the Congress party set up with the permission of AICC president Sonia Gandhi while Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was still on tour deliberated on the leadership crisis within the State Congress Legislature Party for over three days and the deliberation concluded today.
A final decision on the demand of the dissident group to remove Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh is likely to be taken very soon after a formal meeting as the Prime Minister has returned to Delhi from his Beijing tour today morning.
Expressing confidence that the Central party leaders would definitely give due importance to resolve the lingering leadership crisis within the State CLP in view of the upcoming Budget session of the Assembly slated to begin from February 1, the dissident MLAs informed they have rushed to Delhi to exert pressure on the AICC leaders and all other concerned to remove Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.
All the 12 dissident MLAs who arrived at Delhi reportedly met and held discussions with MPCC president Gaikhangam who is already at the National Capital to continue with the oust Ibobi campaign.
Due pressure would be mounted on the AICC leaders.
However, FCS Minister Y Erabot who is being considered as one of the important leaders of the dissident group returned from Delhi to Imphal today.
Meanwhile, accompanied by his MLA wife Okram Landhoni, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has also left Imphal for the National capital this afternoon.
Information received by the press said that the Chief Minister has gone to Delhi ahead of the meeting for finalisation of the Plan size on January 21 so as to lobby for augmenting the Plan size of the State.
According to another source, Governor Dr Sivinder Sidhu, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh and Health Minister P Parijat have also reportedly left Imphal today for various official works.
