Imphal, January 16:
The Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) has decided to monitor work quality in the implementation of the Pallel-Chandel road development work and ensure that the road development work is completed before the Lui-Ngai-Ni festival which falls on February 15, informed an NSUC press release.
While inviting PWD officials and concerned contractors/work agencies for a joint meeting with the NSUC on January 18 at the latter's office, the student body has warned that failure to complete the road development work with proper maintenance of quality within the deadline may result in untoward incidents/agitation for which the Works Minister, the PWD officials and the contractors/work agencies concerned will be held responsible.
It further informed that a joint meeting of the NSUC and Chandel District Contractors Association will be held tomorrow at 11 am.
On the other hand, the Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) has decried the failure of the State Government to complete development work of the Chandel-Pallel road till date.
Observing that repeated assurances of the Chief Minister and the Minister concerned to complete the road development work remain unfulfilled even today, the CNPO demanded immediate resumption and early completion of the Pallel-Chandel road development work within the current month.
It warned that serious democratic forms of agitation will be launched if the road development work is not completed within the stipulated time.
The CNPO also invited all contractors engaged in the Chandel-Pallel road development work for a meeting on January 18 to discuss the inordinate delay in completing the road work.
