Under the ongoing drive of the proscribed RPF against mitha mana and tobacco products, a large quantity of these items were consigned to flames today.
The 'banned products' seized from different areas under jurisdiction of RPF Division IV were handed over to Meira Paibis of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak who subsequently set them on fire.
Meanwhile, the proscribed RPF has warned one mitha mana supplier who managed to escape from the hands of its cadres to surrender within five days.
Speaking to reporters at a location in Imphal East district, a spokesperson of the RPF's Department of Communication and Publicity said that Laitonjam ongbi Gani Devi (37) w/o Mobi of Heirangoithong Aheibam Leirak and Thoudam Inakhunbi (36) w/o Nimai of Heirangoithong Bazar were also asked to give in to the outfit for they were involved in large scale supply of mitha mana.
Moreover, Laimayum Memcha (58) w/o late Nimai, Aheibam Renu w/o Shyamcharan of Heirangoithong Aheibam Leirak, Thounaojam Satyabati (48) w/o Imocha of Heirangoithong Bazar and Sapam Zilla (52) of Bashikhong Bazar have also been warned to surrender to the outfit within five days for selling mitha mana at their homes and shops run by them, conveyed the spokesperson.
Further, the shops of Oinam Chitra (58) w/o Ramananda of Bashikhong Mamang Leikai, Thabaton Devi (48) of Kongba Bazar and Kangjam Amu of Waikhom Leikai near Basketball ground have been prohibited from opening for four months for dealing in mitha mana and other 'banned tobacco products', added the RPF spokesperson.
