In order to create congenial atmosphere for development and prosperity of Manipur and to prevent frequent eruption of problems that had gripped the society State Government should work in tandem with the aspiration of the masses, suggested social activists from Delhi Baba Pansare who is here to assess the ground reality of the State situation.
Speaking to media-persons at Manipur Press club today, Pansare strongly advocated removal of AFSPA from Manipur saying such repressive Act is contradictory to belief and principle of free India.
Categorically opposing instances of security force personnel slaying underground activists he said all arrested underground members or suspects should be put on proper trial in the courtroom and punished according to nature of the crime.
Referring to the capture and subsequent trial of even Saddam Hussien, the social activist lamented that Thangjam Manorama Devi had to be eliminated after arrest instead of providing an opportunity to stand trial if suspected of unholy alliance with UG outfits.
Expressing serious concern at the sight of Army personnel mounted on vehicle top flashing their arsenal (weapons), he reminded that Army should be confined to border areas to protect the country from advances of adversary forces rather than exhibit their prowess in crowded places as if Manipur is a battlefield.
Police personnel should be handed the responsibility of manning law and order in human congested areas, he asserted.
While informing that he will join the public in the proposed mass agitation to- morrow against continuation of AFSPA, Pansare also reiterated that the State�s problems would be highlighted to every corner of the national capital through mass canvassing on the AFSPA issue.
Socialist front leader Surendra Mohan (ex-MP), who had despatched him (Pansare) to Manipur to study in detail the ground situation, will also be minutely intimated on comments of the general public with whom he had interacted to understand the real issues that had been impending progress of Manipur in all sectors.
Lamenting multiple problem being faced by the people of Manipur that had dent prospect of development in all spheres of lives, he said all out attempt should be made to root out the menace of corruption which he said is another major impediment to all positive measure.
