The State Government has earmarked Rs 24 lakhs for a children's park to come up at the premises of Officers' Club, Lamphel in the memory of Lungnila Elizabeth.
The amount was set aside from the Plan size of Rs 781.25 crs for this fiscal.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a well placed source said that the Government set aside the sum from the Plan size in memory of Lungnila Elizabeth, whose kidnap and subsequent murder shocked the sensibilities of the people of Manipur.
Education Minister Francis Ngajokpa is Elizabeth's father.
The source further said that a portion of the sum set aside for the children's park will be used to upgrade the tennis court at the Officers' Club.
The State Govt has also earmarked a sum of Rs 30 lakhs from the Plan size to fence the historic Kangla moat, said the source adding that another Rs 20 lakhs have been set aside to build a new office building of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations.
