Imphal, October 11::
Despite the acute shortage of fuel being faced in the State in the backdrop of tanker drivers refusing to take the wheel, the FCS Department continues to maintain that the fuel position is still healthy.
An official source from the FCS said that fuel is being sold to the public on rationing basis and gave the stock position of petrol as 644 kl (which will last for 11 days), 1390 kl of kerosene (19 days) and 2085 kl of diesel (20 days).
On top of this, petrol tankers are on the way to deposit their fuel, said the source adding that the fuel on the way is about 180 kls of petrol, 230 kls of diesel and 230 kls of kerosene.
Manipur needs about 60 kls of petrol per day, 74 kls of kerosene per day and 104 kls of diesel per day.
Moreover there is still 100 kls of petrol, 105 kls of kerosene and 180 kls of diesel at the depot, though this is at the dead stock position, which means that the this fuel cannot be easily taken out from the tanks.
The source further said that 85 oil tankers have arrived at the State since yesterday.
