Highest TPR since May 29, test capacity drops
State reports 989 new positive cases out of 4888 samples, 9 fatalities in 24 hours

The state on Monday reported 989 new positive cases out of 4888 samples tested along with nine fatalities registering the highest single day test positivity rate (TPR) of 20.23 per cent after May 29, which recorded 20.50 per cent.
Though Sunday reported 1207 new positive cases, the positivity rate was only 14.50 per cent, which indicates that there is no sign of recession of the second wave of the pandemic.
However, Monday was the fourth time the state recorded single digit fatalities in the current month.
Except for July 4, 5, 7 and 26, the remaining days of the current month reported double digit fatality counts.
So far, the state has recorded 64,256 positive cases and 1113 fatalities during the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month saw addition of 23,866 new cases and 337 fatalities out of which 8060 new cases and 95 fatalities were reported in the last seven days alone.
Active caseload fell slightly to 10,524 on Monday and out of them 4559 (43.32 per cent) are in home isolations, 3018 (28.68 per cent) in CHICs, 1920 (18.24 per cent) and 1027 (9.76 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the patients admitted to hospitals, 141 are in ICU/HDU wards, 425 on oxygen support and 71 including a 17-year-old female on ventilator/NIV support.
At the same time, 105 patients are on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Monday night, 54 beds (30 ICU/HDU) are available in government hospitals, 67 beds (22 ICU/HDU) in private hospitals, 8 beds in LF School Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, 156 beds (17 ICU/HDUs) in district hospitals & CHCs, and 1287 beds in different CCCs.
According to official reports, the 987 new cases (475 male & 512 female) are from among the general population and the remaining two personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (15), JNIMS (114), District Hospitals (642) and other testing centres (218) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (255), Imphal West (209), Thoubal (136), Bishnupur (115), Kakching (43), Ukhrul (12), Churachandpur (57), Chandel (91), Senapati (21), Tamenglong (23), Tengnoupal (3), Kangpokpi (2), Pherzawl (2) and Jiribam (18) .
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 9 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information are disclosed.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (3), Imphal East (2), Bishnupur (1), Kangpokpi (1) and Churachandpur (2).None of the victims were vaccinated and three of them did not have any co-morbid conditions.
The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1487.In the last 24 hours, 1037 patients were discharged from home isolation (525), RIMS (43), JNIMS (14), CCCs (169) and CHICs (286) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 93,656 (general population - 89,688 and CAPF personnel - 3,968) .
Number of recovered cases is 81,645 (general population - 77,739 and CAPF personnel - 3,906) and number of active cases is 10,524 (general population - 10,467 and CAPF personnel - 57).The recovery rate is 87.17 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 2160 D-type and 463 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Only 11,007 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 10,39,214 which include 1,66,529 who have received their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
Meanwhile, 65 new positive cases were detected out of 414 samples tested from Sunday 2 pm to Monday 2 pm in Kakching district.
One case was detected at Ema Hospital, six at Jivan Hospital and 58 at different government RAT sites.
One of the new cases is from Thoubal district and the remaining are residents of Kakching district.
As per report from DSO Kakching, the cumulative number of infected people in the district has reached 5278 out of which 4531 have been discharged and 99 have died while the active caseload is 648 .
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (31,607), Imphal East (20,995), Thoubal (7993), Churachandpur (7877), Kangpokpi (2228), Tamenglong (2678), Bishnupur (6602), Senapati (1700), Ukhrul (1675), Kakching (5181), Chandel (1791), Noney (753), Tengnoupal (933), Jiribam (928), Kamjong (540) and Pherzawl (175).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (515), Imphal East (355), Thoubal (133), Churachandpur (129), Kangpokpi (47), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (138), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (88), Chandel (27), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (6), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 30,182 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,531 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,39,524 tests per million population against the national average of 3,28,053 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 4888 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 20.23 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.89 per cent.
