The High Court of Manipur has directed the State Govern-ment represented by the Chief Secretary and others to conduct an inquiry regarding a complaint mentioned in a PIL which highlighted the grievances of the people of Kamjong district, particularly the villagers of Tangkhul Hundung due to improperly laid road and to take up necessary remedial measures by September 27 this year.
The order was issued by a Division Bench of the High Court comprising of Chief Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice Lanusungkum Jamir, on July 8, in connection with a PIL which was filed on the same day itself by the headman of Tangkhul Hundung, Wungreingam Keishing (55) and the headman of Itham Tangkhul village, Wungreingam Ningshen (57) as petitioners against the State of Manipur represented by the Chief Secretary and others including two special class contractors namely Mingthing Horam and N Dijen Singh as respondents regarding the failure of the special contractors to construct the road properly at the said village rendering it unmotorable and unfit for use.
After directing the authorities to do the needful by September 27 this year, the Court disposed off the case.
On the other hand, the chairman of Zingsho Mapithel Longphang (ZML) AS Paothing, the two petitioners and their counsel Advocate Aaron Keishing, have expressed gratitude to Chief Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice Lanusungkum Jamir for delivering justice on the very first day itself of taking up the case.
