Cultural exchange programme held

The 4th one day cultural exchange programme of Chandel district was held at Aimol Khullen Community Hall, Chandel district today with Ningthoujam Geoffrey, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel as the chief guest.
The programme which was organized by Indigenous Minority Organization, Manipur (IMOM) in collaboration with the Aimol Khullen Village Authority was also attended by WS Kanral, President of Chandel Naga Peoples Organization (CNPO) and Khupler Kom, President of Indigenous Minority Organization, Manipur (IMOM) as the special guest and functional president respectively.
Various cultural troupes such as Aimol, Anal, Lamkang, Moyon, Monsang, Chothe, Tarao, Kom, Thadou, Maring and Tangkhul performed and exhibited their respective colourful cultural dances during the programme.

Expressing gratitude to the organisers for giving a platform to showcase the distinct cultures of different communities living in the district, Ningthoujam Geoffrey, DC said that Chandel district is a home to various communities.
This uniqueness distinguished the district from other districts of the State.
Stressing the need to maintain and uphold ones' customs and cultures, the DC said that the value of a man resides in his knowledge and awareness of his culture.
The programme was also attended amongst others by Angkhong Saka, general secretary of Maring Uparup Assembly, Moses Maring, vice-president of Maring Uparup Assembly, Ch Sote Aimol, secretary of Aimol Tribe Union Manipur and other tribe as well as civil organizations' leaders besides villages chiefs and religious leaders of the district.
