Cattle die from BQ disease

In Kampang village, Tengnoupal sub-division, Chandel, a number of cattle have reportedly died after being infected by an unknown disease, reports our correspondent.
Villagers of Kampang own around 99 cattle and nine have died so far, informed Ch Morung, chairman, Kampang Khullen Village Authority.
Soon after the news was reported, Dr W Ibomcha Singh, Joint Director, Veterinary office, Chandel and members of Chandel District Animal Farmers' Welfare Union visited the village to take stock of the situation.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Ibomcha Singh said the symptoms and the manner how the animals died appeared to be that of the Black Quarter (BQ) disease.
He added proper examination will be conducted and BQ vaccine will be administered very soon.
Antibiotics for cattles were also distributed to the villagers.
