Imphal, June 20 2015 :
Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council has accused the BJP led NDA Government of creating a complex situation in Manipur.
Addressing a press meet today at Irabot Bhawan here, secretary of CPI Manipur State Council Dr M Nara said that Central security forces have violated all international laws in the State in the name of hunting down insurgents in the aftermath of the unfortunate June 4 ambush in Chandel district.
The CPI also strongly condemned the comment made by Defence Minister who termed the post-ambush operation as 'Search and Destroy.' Dr Nara said that this comment will have more negative impacts than good.
Hunting down the insurgents will not bring a solution but a political dialogue will, he added.
Citing an example, Dr Nara said that through political dialogue Mizoram has now be- come a peaceful and developed State.
But the despotic rule by the NDA Govt has sparked insurgency in the entire Northeast region.
The biggest blunder of the Modi Govt towards the people of Manipur is the failure to respect the recommendation made by the Justice Jeevan Reddy Commission for removal of the dreaded Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), added Dr Nara.
AFSPA was recently scrapped in Tripura.
The CPI would not remain a silent spectator to the double standard of the Central Govt towards NE people.
He added that both the State Government and the Central Government should work together to remove AFSPA as it has caused more human rights violation than suppressing insurgency in the region.
After the June 4 incident, the Chief of Army who came to take stock of the situation failed to meet the Chief Minister of Manipur who is the chairman of the Unified Command.
"Such action from the Army and covert operations which are continuing till today to remove insurgents from the State is the doings of the Modi Govt," charged Dr Nara.
Further he informed that removal of the Special Category Status from the Northeast is a clear indication that Modi led NDA Govt is against development of Northeast region.
CPI will appraise the prevailing situation of the State to all party workers in a public meeting tomorrow, he added.
Meanwhile, Ex- Minister N Mangi commented that the Government of India has failed to differentiate 'terrorist' and 'insurgents'.
He added that the insurgency can only be stopped through political dialogue.
The dream project of the Northeast people 'Act East' policy is destined to fail if the NDA Government continues to rule over India, Mangi added.
In the name of conducting counter insurgency operations there are many instances of human right violation by Security forces, and such cases cannot be kept aside by the Central Govt, he added.
With the onset of the holy month of Ramzan, CPI Manipur State Council also conveyed its wishes to promote secularism in the State.
