UNLFW generating interest among all sections: ULFA (I)
Source: Hueiyen News Service

Imphal, June 20 2015 : A premier Indian news paper The Telegraph on May 19, 2105 using its precious space on United National Liberation Front of West South East Asia (UNLFW) is an indication of the importance on its development drawing the interest of newsmen in general, United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) said on Saturday.

Even before the declaration of the formation of the UNLFW there had been reports from mostly electronic media on this watershed moment of the national liberation struggle of different nationalities since the British exit from the region, said a press statement released by Dr Abhizeet Asom, Chairman ULFA (Independent) .

Inaccuracies in these reports is a tell tale sign of intelligence gathering by intelligence agencies interested in 'our region' and likely to have been passed onto reporters for their own reasons, it said.

ULFA (I) said, "Now that this historic organisation has been officially exists, we have noticed a concerted effort to harm this organisation by various means, but, largely with the use of the print media.

Why is it so? If we take a step back and recall on the formation of Indo-Burma Revolutionary Front (this organisation has been closed down before the birth of UNLFW, there was no reporting to match the current wonderment; the difference can be very easily perceived" .

"UNLFW's philosophy is based on long held legitimate rights and aspirations to get the freedom our citizens deserve.

Even ignoring the period prior to 1947, since 1947 it is long 65 years on the path of freedom we walk and like many eventual successful international struggles having to face ups and downs we are experiencing the same too.

But we shall overcome it all and win shall we, learning from our past and present regional leaders," the statement added.

One of the most influential politicians of our region greatly respected Zapu phizo rejecting the Indian Constitution and holding a plebiscite for the freedom of the Nagas of Naga Hills of Assam then, was indeed a historic step by the Naga National Council (NNC), ULFA (Independent) chairman stated.

As revealed to this writer by Phizo's most trusted officer and companion in exile, late Yongkhong, his leader was manipulated by his close associates stationed in Kohima to get the Shillong Accord in place.

The difficulty phizo had in establishing communication with Kohima at that time gave the manipulators the upper hand and Phizo's objection to the accord did not reach the wider Naga people in time, he maintained.

"The 'Shillong Accord' became a two edged sword.

Many took advantage of it and became powerful and rich becoming politicians subjugating themselves to the Indian Constitution.

They used ploys to fool the common Nagas to achieve the elusive Naga freedom using democratic means, but, it has been a long saga of these crafty people playing out their own designs," Dr Abhizeet Asom added.

However, all Nagas are not traitors to the legitimate cause of the Naga People as a whole.

Two bright stars appeared on the Naga scene.

One is T Muivah and the other SS Khalpang of the Na-Kha on the same platform viz NSCN, he said.

T Muivah eventually decided to have peaceful negotiation with the Government of India.

It is really sad that a seasoned man of Muivah's caliber did not understand that what he embarked upon was surrendering Naga sovereign rights to India, as that is exactly what Indian establishment means by 'holding of peace talks' .

"We all the revolutionary organisations of our region who are defying Indian hegemony sticking to our Sovereign rights are fortunate that SS Khaplang did not step into the India's well laid trap.

Instead, this wise gentleman lulled Indian establishment maintaining the 'ceasefire' agreement to let the rest of the revolutionary organisations to wisen up to the ground realities that fighting India individually is a fruitless exercise," the statement added.

The first successful operation was dealing with the Indian occupation forces by the UNLFW that has not only shaken the Indian Army, but also sent a ripple through the whole region.

This has been reflected by NSCN(R) trying to throw spanner into the works invoking Christianity to sow doubts in the SS Khaplang camp maligning the above attack taking place on a Sunday, Dr Abhizeet Asom said.

Sunday became a special day in Christianity from the experiences of another Abraham religion Judaism.

Jews celebrate Sabbath.

Sabbath means day of rest and Jews celebrate Sabbath on Friday.

Christians chose Sunday due to the importance of Easter Sunday in Christianity.

The NSCN(R) perhaps in their naivety thought that Christians never kill even their enemies on Sundays, he said.
