Poumai's mortal remains brought home

Mortal remains of L Poumai, who was mysteriously found dead hang-ing from a tree at the official residential complex of a senior OAS officer in Bhubaneshwar on December 2, has been brought to his native village today.
Since morning, a large number of people clad in traditional attires gathered at Tulihal airport to receive the lifeless body of the youth, who hailed from Purul Akut-pa village presently staying at Khabung Karung in Senapati district.
His family members brought the body to Imphal in a Jet Airways flight at around 3.30 pm.
People gathered at the airport received L Poumai's body with traditional rituals.
Later, the body was taken to his native village through a large procession participated by the people of different sections of the society.
His last rites were performed at his native village later in the evening.
It may be mentioned that after he left Dimapur for Ban-galore in a train (Dibrugarh -Bangalore Express) on November 29, L Poumai was found dead hanging from a tree at the official residential complex of a senior OAS officer in Bhubaneshwar on December 2 last.
At around 4.55 pm of November 29, his brother reportedly received a distress call from L Poumai informing him that around five persons were threatening to kill him inside the train.
Since then, his phone remained switched off and his whereabouts traceless although the train which he boarded reached Bangalore on time on November 30 .
Although, the incident appeared like a suicide case prima facie, Bhubaneshwar police converted it into a case of murder after Poumai's family expressed strong suspicion of foul play yesterday.
Police also decided to conduct a second post mortem on the youth's body to ascertained the exact cause of his death.
The State Government sent a DSP-ranked police officer to the Odisha capital to look into the investigations of the case.
