Three-day Indigenous Games Festival comes to an end

The three-day Indigenous Games Festival at the Manipur University Hockey Field came to an end on Saturday.
It was organised by DD Sports in collaboration with DDK Imphal and Indigenous Sports Association of Manipur in an ambitious attempt to promote the indigenous games of Manipur.
According to a press note, Abhishek Dubey, Channel Advisor, DD Sports, said that DD Sports had organised the first Indigenous Games Festival in Aizawl last month successfully and this was the second edition.
He was very impressed by the indigenous games of Manipur and said that such games displayed raw energy and raw enthusiasm.

He expressed that indigenous games normally have minimal rules and therefore gives more room for Sportsmanship.
He added that such games preserve our precious culture and hence such games should be preserved. graced the ceremony as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively.
RK Imo Singh said that this Indigenous Games Festival in Manipur was the second that DD Sports has organised so far in the country.
He thanked Doordarshan for coming up with this endeavour that enabled the people to witness games which they cannot normally see by broadcasting live nationally on DD Sports.
Sagol Kangjei, Yubi Lakpi and Thang Ta were showcased today.
The games were broadcast live on DDK Imphal, DD Sports and DD North-East.
Govindas Konthoujam, Chief Guest, declared the games "closed" .
