'Ningsingli Ema' released on Nupee Lal day

Social activist Chongtham Basanta on Saturday said that the number of indigenous population in Manipur has decreased over the years in spite of various movements to protect the indigenous communities.
"Number of persons has been killed in armed conflicts; many people have died due to drugs and the policy of family planning has also led to decrease the number of indigenous population", alleged Basanta.
Basanta was speaking as the Guest of Honour at the releasing function of video album "Ningsingli Ema" dedicated to the courageous mothers who took part in the Nupi Lal movements of 1904 and 1939 at Ngairangbam Meetei Shanglen.
Paying rich floral tribute to the mothers, marathon run of women, a public rally from Khumbong to Ngairangbam Shanglen and releasing of the video album were the main events of the function.
Khunung Esei singer Gose Meetei, patriotic song writer Okendro Khundongbam and H Guni Leima who has been taking a big role for women sections were honoured with the title of "Athoiba Emagi Mapari" during the function organised by Meeyamgi Apokpa Apokpi Lainingthou Leimarel Esei Marup (MALEM) .
The prizes were also distributed to the winners of state level patriotic song competition organised by MALEM on November 20 last.
Yurembam Zila Parishad Chongtham ongbi Bijenti and Ngairangbam Gram Panchayat Pradhan S Indubala attended the function as Chief Guest and President respectively.
