Differing stand continues to dog MPP

Manipur People's Party (MPP) president in charge S Brojen has clarified that no new president has been elected for the party.
Speaking to media persons at Wahengbam Leikai today, Brojen expressed disappointment at the infighting of the political party which has made headlines continuously.
He clarified that M Amutombi, who is claiming himself as the working president of MPP, had contested for the post of the party president in 2018.He came third during that election, Brojen informed, adding that if an interim president needs to be elected, then the votes of all 118 members of the party central committee must be taken into account.
Moreover, the interim president must be one of the vice-presidents as per MPP's Constitution, he added.
Stating that the election of the president for the party will be conducted in February next year, he appealed to one and all to show restraint and discipline till the election comes.
On the other hand, MPP general secretary (org) Mutum (O) Nirmala Leima claimed that the party is currently undergoing a financial crisis.
Informing that during the 17th Lok Sabha Election of 2019, the Finance Management Committee of the party was headed by M Amutombi Singh as its chairman, H Gitajen Meitei as convenor, Y Bhim as member, L Krisnadas as advisor and Md Abdur Rahman as treasurer, she alleged that the financial crisis in the party is caused by the said individuals as they acted in their own self interest.
