Pherzawl ginger farmers receive Rs 20 lakh, processing unit

The people of Pherzawl, who have last April organised the First Ginger Festival, has started receiving dividends as the local ginger farmers have now received Rs 20 lakh as Ginger Price Support Fund from the State Government while Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) also setup two micro ginger processing units within the district.
Highlighting the achievements, Ginger Festival Organising Committee has testified that the Chief Minister and several of his Cabinet Ministers have translated their promises into action.
About 500 farmers have already received 10 bags each of ginger seeds and the State Government have sanctioned Rs 20 lakh as Ginger Price Support Fund to Ginger Cultivators of Parbung and adjoining villages, it said.
The Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) has also organised seminars on "How to Improve Ginger Cultivation" for farmers of the district, and had installed 2 Micro Ginger/Turmeric Processing Set at Pherzawl, district headquarter and Parbung, block headquarter respectively.
The Ginger Cultivators of Pherzawl District expressed their grateful for fulfulling some of the promises made during the Ginger Festival while the people and the Festival Organizing Committee also hope that other promises made at the festival will be fulfilled in due course, added the committee.
