Imphal, January 12 2022:
The shutdown imposed by the Joint Action Committee formed in connection with the killing of Abujam Rishikanta and Abujam John from Samurou affected normal life along Mayai Lambi, today.
A large number of JAC members disturbed traffic movement along Mayai Lambi at Samorou area as they placed obstacles and tree branches in the middle of the road.
Students, people who commuted to attend religious events, medical and emergency services were given free passage.
All shops at Samurou area were closed during the shutdown.
No untoward incidents were reported during the shutdown period.The JAC has resolved to continue the shutdown along Mayai Lambi from 5 am till 6 pm everyday till all killers are arrested.
Reportedly, the corpses are still at RIMS morgue though the post mortem of the same were conducted yesterday.
A Special Investigation Team has also been constituted to investigate the double murder.
Abujam Rishikanta and Abujam John were shot dead on January 9 at around 9.30 pm at Samurou Awang Leikai.
